BIOGRAPHY
The Australian landscape. Vast, calm, relentless, harsh, nourishing. Distinctly Australian and like no other. A constant source of inspiration for me.
It's taken 10 years to get to a point where I am lucky enough to be creative full time. I work out of my beautiful studio in Sydney’s Northern Beaches - a little paradise of my own with my husband, Hayden and my beautiful kids, James and Matilda. I've been drawing, painting, sewing and being creative in some aspect all my life. I completed an honours degree in Textiles at COFA, UNSW which gave me a tactile sensibility and sparked my intrigue in multi-sensory experiences.
I strive to instil this experience in my paintings now - a sense of calm, depth of colour, the power to transport you somewhere familiar yet new. That is the ocean to me, an all encompassing power with its own rhythm and tempo - my constant inspiration.
My series is an ode to the stunning beaches of Sydney - with my signature painting 'Icebergs' my abstract take on the incredibly iconic Bondi pools - Crisp fresh blues contrasting with sharp pool lanes inviting you to dive right in.
I have been invited to exhibit at 'The Other Art Fair' in Sydney and Melbourne, had exhibitions in New York and private collector's from Amsterdam to Singapore.
My work has been featured in Virgin Voyeur Magazine, My Domaine and Huffington Post and I've recently had the pleasure of painting my signature 'Icebergs' Mural on the Bondi Sea Wall.
I'm very excited to release my debut collection of hand-painted ceramics. My 'Icebergs' and 'Palms' paintings feature on a range of bowls, vessels and platters, crossing boundaries from wall to table and striking a balance between art and functionality.
I also paint private commissions, so if you are after a personal piece or special gift please email me and I would love to create a unique work for you: hello@jenniferlia.com
