A visit to Brett Whiteley's Studio

Currently on display at Brett Whiteley’s Studio is his incredible Archibald winning portrait ‘Self Portrait in the Studio’, 1976.  If you haven’t popped in, definitely take a few hours and check it out.  It’s a little hidden gem tucked in the back streets of Surry Hills and Admission is free!

I first visited on a school trip a very long time ago and recently visited again (forgetting how incredible it is) and found myself happily transported again through Whiteley’s inner workings.

All his knick knacks, books, and paint in situ are left as if time stopped.  It is both beautiful if not a little haunting which is why I find myself so drawn to it.

The studio also has musical recitals 'Classical Sundays' every third Sunday of the month, coming to an end this month.  Admission for this is also free!

After you’ve taken in the gallery and studio, stroll over the ‘The Book Kitchen’ (www.thebookkitchen.com.au) for a coffee and something delicious to finish off your afternoon of inspiration.

Enjoy!
